Webuzo 2.7.8 Launched


The Webuzo Team has launched 2.7.8. The following is the list of changes :

1) [Feature] : Added support for HTML Email templates. Templates can be customized from Softaculous admin panel -> Settings -> Email Templates

2) [Feature] : Backup and Restore will now be processed in background to avoid timeouts in case of huge installations.

3) [Feature] : Improved the UI to multi select check boxes using Shift key.

4) [Feature] : User can add indentation using TAB in the PHP, Apache and MySQL configuration files from the End user panel.

5) [Update] : Updated ACME protocol to v2 which is used by Let’s Encrypt to issue you a certificate and verify domain.

6) [Bug Fix] : Logo URL was not setting up on Login page when set from Admin panel has been fixed now.

7) [Bug Fix] : In Clone, Staging and Push to Live, when the installation data i.e. URL or path in serialized object format in the database was changed it caused broken objects. This is fixed now.
Note : This error was with serialized objects only, serialized arrays used to work fine.

8) [Bug Fix] : On some servers with very low MySQL wait_timeout configuration Clone, Staging, Push to Live reported MySQL server gone away error. This is fixed now and does not require any change in MySQL server configuration.

9) [Bug Fix] : While restoring the backup of an installation which has a cron job, the restore was completed successfully but the progress bar did not display restore was completed. This is fixed now.

10) [Bug Fix] : The MySQL version requirement check now checks for the corresponding MariaDB version as well.

11) [Bug Fix] : When removing PERL script installation some files/folders were not deleted. This is fixed now.

The upcoming version will bring some Improvements, features and changes.

Configure CentOS with NTP Time Servers

This article is to help you to configure the NTP Client to synchronize with NTP Servers.

First, You need to install the ntpd and ntpdate clients on Linux host.

# yum install ntp ntpdate

If yum is not installed, then just run the following command: sudo apt install yum. Once that’s installed you need to start and enable the ntpd service.

# systemctl start ntpd
# systemctl enable ntpd
# systemctl status ntpd

Now run the following command to configure the NTP Servers.

# ntpdate -u -s 0.centos.pool.ntp.org 1.centos.pool.ntp.org 2.centos.pool.ntp.org

Command tells the ntpdate to use an unprivileged port for outgoing packets with the -u switch and to write logging output to the system syslog facility using the -s switch

Next restart the ntpd daemon.

# systemctl restart ntpd

Now check if NTP synchronization is enabled and running.

# timedatectl

And for the last, you need to set the hardware clock to the current system time using the -w switch.

# hwclock -w

You’ve now successfully set your NTP client on CentOS. Hope this article has helped you to Sync your server with NTP Time Servers.

The Webuzo Team has released Webuzo 2.7.6.
This version has many changes and an security update for EXIM.
We advise that you update to this version immediately.

The following is a list of changes :

1) [Security] We have updated EXIM to 4.92 on all CentOS systems. On Ubuntu the patch for EXIM has been applied by the Ubuntu developers.

2) [Feature] : WordPress Mange Plugin / Theme Sets (Admin/Enduser can now create sets of plugins/themes). With this feature you can use the defined sets to be applied to new WordPress installations or even existing WordPress installations. You can follow the below guide on how to create sets and manage them :

3) [Feature] : Now user can save Sign on username from edit installation page to auto sign-on in WordPress. Guide :

4) [Task] : Added support for multi sub directory levels in Google Drive backup location.

5) [Task] : Added support to add multiple admin email address.

6) [Bug Fix] : In auto upgrade installation even if the installation doesn’t exist , Softaculous unzips the latest files. This is fixed now.

Note : This security issue is not in Webuzo Panel. Its in EXIM which is a Mail Agent.

1) PHP Extensions : Users can now enable/disable PHP extensions from the Webuzo Enduser Panel.

7) Detect real version : Users can now determine the real version of installation(s) and update Webuzo records from Webuzo Admin panel -> Installations (The records are outdated in case the user updates the installation manually). Here is a guide

8 ) Check HTTPS connection : If user selects to install a script on the https protocol, Softaculous will display a warning to the user if a Trusted SSL certificate is not found on the domain.

9) Improved the API to support the installation of Plugins, themes, etc of a script via Webuzo. Admin Panel has a feature wherein user can also control these settings to enable, change default values, etc shown on the install form in the End-users Panel. Here is a guide

10) Automated Backups : Users can now choose from the install form to take automated backups (i.e. Daily, Weekly, Monthly). Click here for documentation.

11) Users can define the PERL version, MySQL version, list of enabled extensions, list of enabled functions in the pre install hook to override the requirements check done while script installation. Click here for documentation.

12) Users can now choose to prepend a prefix for Admin Username field for their endusers on the script install form the Admin Panel. Click here for documentation.

13) All scripts requirements can be checked from the Webuzo Admin panel to determine which scripts might not work on the server. Click here for documentation.

14) Added settings in Webuzo Admin Panel to individually disable New installation, Remove installation, Edit installation, Backup installation emails sent to the endusers.

15) Added setting to disable Backup installations emails from the Webuzo Enduser Panel -> Email Settings.

16) Bug Fix – Added prevention for CSRF attacks.

17) Bug Fix : File manager shows the directory listing of /usr/local/webuzo/enduser/webuzo/filemanager instead of /home/user further restricting the user to perform file management functions. It is fixed now.

18 ) Bug Fix : Default FTP password is not the same as the password of username for login to control panel. It is fixed now.

19) Bug Fix : Uploading larger file using phpmyadmin resulted in a Error “413 Request Entity Too Large”. It is fixed now.

20) Bug Fix : Unable to redirect to the default index.php page in case of NGINX mode. It is fixed now.

21) Bug Fix : PHP path was invalid for the Enduser Scripts. It is fixed now.

22) Bug Fix : Apps List was not updated automatically. It is fixed now.

23) Bug Fix : Control Panel Link in the Enduser Panel points to the IP address and not to the domain if any. It is fixed now.

24) Bug Fix : Disk Space was inappropriately calculated. It is rounded off to 2 decimal places.

25) Bug Fix : Changes made to php.ini were not saved successfully. It is fixed now.

26) Bug Fix : While trying to login to phpMyAdmin it will come back again to the login page. It is fixed now.

27) Bug Fix : Capital letters were allowed in Domain name while changing the Primary Domain from Admin Panel. It is fixed now.

28 ) Bug Fix : Added validation for Table prefix to allow only alphanumeric characters and _

29) Bug Fix : Script installation was not allowed if the user wanted DB prefix to be empty. This is now fixed.

30) Bug Fix : On the Task List page hyperlink was displayed even for the paths. This is fixed now.
